Unique wedding ideas – rustic backdrop stand
Most of our bookings come from couples who are looking for great quality, reliable services for their big day. Because of this we are always trying to come up with unique wedding ideas that we can offer to our clients. Our most recent one is a beautiful backdrop stand that we handmade here in Denver. The backdrop stand is a whopping 8 feet tall and looks stunning in barn weddings and other popular Colorado styles.
As I’m writing this post, I realize that I don’t have any spectacular pictures of it on hand so here’s a picture of it in action at a local David’s Bridal store. If you were unaware, we are partnered with David’s Bridal as a preferred vendor so you could possibly see us set up there showing off our stuff!
When building this backdrop stand, I made 4 4′ pillars (two for each side) that stack onto each other. This was done for ease of transportation and also to increase stability. After sanding the wood down really well I stained it with an ash gray stain, making a really light surface that I then clear coated. I only put a few light coats of clear coat on so it doesn’t shine too much in the photos. The main purpose of the clear coat was to add a little protection to the wood, and also prevent splintering.
I’ve had this for a few months, but finally put the finishing touches on it recently. That being said, it has no bookings as of yet so if you love it, let us know.
